Introduction
This is what we collect, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to change. By using our site or registering for camp, you agree to what's described here.
At Ascend Golf Camp ("Ascend," "we," "us," or "our"), the privacy of your family is something we take seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit ascendgolfcamp.com or register a camper for one of our sessions, how that information is used and shared, how it is protected, and what choices you have about it.
By using our website or submitting a reservation through it, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree with any part of it, please do not use the site or submit information through it.
Who We Are
Ascend Golf Camp is a private summer junior golf camp based in San Diego, California. We are operated by three college students and welcome campers age 18 and younger. The exact venue for our sessions will be announced ahead of each summer.
For all privacy-related inquiries, you can reach us at info@ascendgolfcamp.com. Ascend is the data controller responsible for the personal information collected through this site.
Information We Collect
We collect what you give us on the registration form, plus basic technical information from your browser when you visit the site.
3.1 Information You Provide Directly
When a parent or legal guardian submits our reservation form, we collect the following information:
- Parent or guardian name
- Camper name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Camper age
- Skill level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced)
- Preferred week for the camp session
- Selected payment method (online payment or pay at drop-off)
- Additional notes you choose to share, such as experience level, dietary restrictions, allergies, or questions
If you contact us by email or social media, we will retain whatever information you choose to share in that correspondence so we can respond and follow up.
3.2 Payment Information
When you choose to pay online, your card details are entered directly into our third-party payment processor's secure form and are not stored on Ascend's servers. We receive only a confirmation that the payment succeeded, the last four digits of the card, and basic billing details needed for our records. The payment processor handles your card information under its own privacy and security policies, and is responsible for safeguarding that data.
If you choose to pay in person at drop-off, we do not collect any card information through the website at all.
3.3 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit ascendgolfcamp.com, our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you viewed, the referring website, and the date and time of your visit. This helps us understand how the site is being used and keep it running smoothly.
3.4 Information from Third Parties
If you register through a referral or social media link, we may receive limited information from that platform (such as the source of the referral). We do not buy personal information from data brokers or marketing lists.
How We Use Information
We use the information you provide for the following purposes:
- To process your camp reservation and confirm your camper's spot
- To communicate with you about scheduling, payment, venue announcements, weather updates, and other camp logistics
- To plan staffing, group sizes, and instructional materials based on the ages, skill levels, and special needs of registered campers
- To respond to questions, requests, or feedback you send us
- To provide medical care or contact emergency services if needed during camp
- To keep records required for tax, accounting, insurance, or other legal purposes
- To improve the website, our communications, and the camp experience over time
- To prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights and safety of our campers, staff, and operations
We will not use your information for any purpose that is materially different from what is listed here without first asking your permission.
Legal Basis for Processing
Where required by law, we rely on the following legal grounds to process your information:
- Contract: processing is necessary to deliver the camp services you have signed up for
- Legitimate interest: processing is necessary to operate, secure, and improve our business
- Legal obligation: processing is required to comply with applicable laws or regulations
- Consent: where you have specifically given us permission, such as for marketing emails or photo use
How We Share Information
We don't sell your data. We only share what's needed with people helping us run the camp, or when the law requires it.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone for marketing purposes. We share your information only in the limited circumstances below:
- Service providers: companies that help us operate the camp or the site, such as our payment processor, email service, web host, and form provider. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use your information to perform services for us.
- Camp staff and instructors: who need to know basic information about each camper (name, age, skill level, allergies, special needs) in order to deliver instruction safely.
- Legal compliance: if disclosure is required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with law enforcement requests.
- Safety: if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect a camper, our staff, our property, or the public from harm.
- Business changes: in the unlikely event that Ascend is acquired, merged, or otherwise transferred, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any change in ownership.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our website uses a small number of essential cookies and similar technologies to function properly — for example, to remember your form input within a session or to keep the site secure. We do not intentionally use cookies for advertising, behavioral profiling, or cross-site tracking.
That said, the third-party services we rely on to run the site — such as our web host, font provider, and form provider — may set their own basic cookies or collect aggregate analytics (like page views and general traffic patterns) under their own privacy policies. We do not use this aggregate data to identify or build profiles of individual visitors.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling essential cookies may impact your experience using the site.
Data Retention & Security
8.1 Retention
We keep registration information only as long as it is needed to administer the camp and to comply with our legal, accounting, insurance, and tax obligations. In practice, this means we retain reservation records for up to two years after the end of the summer season in which you participated. After that period, we delete or anonymize the information unless we are legally required to keep it longer (for example, certain tax records may need to be kept for up to seven years).
If you would like us to delete your information sooner, please email us and we will accommodate the request to the extent allowed by law.
8.2 Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect the information you provide from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include secure form transmission, restricted access on a need-to-know basis, secure storage of records, and ongoing review of our practices.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever become aware of a security incident that materially affects your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
Your Privacy Rights
You can ask us what we have, ask us to fix it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop emailing you. Just send us a message.
Depending on where you live, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about your family
- Right to correction: request that we correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Right to deletion: request that we delete your information from our records, subject to legal retention requirements
- Right to restrict processing: ask us to limit how we use your information in certain situations
- Right to data portability: ask us to provide your information in a portable, machine-readable format
- Right to withdraw consent: withdraw any consent you previously gave us, without affecting the legality of past processing
- Right to opt out of marketing: unsubscribe from email communications at any time by replying with "unsubscribe" or contacting us directly
9.1 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect about you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the right to request deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined under California law.
9.2 How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@ascendgolfcamp.com. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request to protect your information.
Children's Privacy
Our site is meant for parents to register their kids. Kids don't sign up themselves, and we don't collect data directly from anyone under 13.
Ascend Golf Camp is intended for junior golfers age 18 and younger. Our website is not directed at children, and registration must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Information about the camper (name, age, skill level, special needs) is provided to us by the parent or guardian, not the child themselves.
We use camper information only for camp administration, safety, and communication with the parent or guardian who registered them. We do not use camper information for marketing, do not share it outside the limited circumstances described in Section 6, and do not retain it longer than necessary to deliver the camp and meet our legal obligations.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has submitted personal information to us without parental consent, please email info@ascendgolfcamp.com and we will promptly delete the information from our records and take steps to prevent it from being collected again.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our services, applicable law, or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify families by email or prominent notice on the site before the changes take effect.
We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the site or enrollment in a session after changes are posted means you accept the updated Policy.
